Making Time for Movement Before Christmas

Making Time for Movement Before Christmas

December often feels like a whirlwind – shopping, social events, work deadlines, and festive planning. It’s easy for self-care and exercise to slide down the list. But a small dose of daily movement can make a huge difference to your mood and energy levels during this busy time.

At Astral Fitness Sports Massage, Jen and I encourage clients to see movement as an act of kindness to themselves, a few moments to breathe, stretch, and reconnect with their body. You don’t need an hour-long workout. Just 5-10 minutes a day can help your circulation, reduce stress, and give your mind a rest from the festive rush.

Here are a few simple ideas to keep moving through the season:

  • Morning mobility: Loosen your spine, hips, and shoulders before the day begins.
  • Desk breaks: Stand, stretch, and do a few calf raises every hour.
  • Evening walks: Wrap up warm, admire the lights, and let the cold air refresh you.
  • At-home bodyweight circuits: Squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks can be done anywhere.

It’s not about perfection

It’s not about perfection… it’s about persistence. The goal is to move a little, every day, to keep your body supple and your spirit high. If you’re making excuses…. Why? The evidence for movement is sky high, it’s hard to ignore. So… if you are ignoring it, find out why. There is always time for the important stuff, and healthy movement will allow you to be there for yourself and your loved ones for years to come. Now that truly is the important stuff.
