Arnold Schwarzenegger has famously said many things about making excuses, rather than time, to exercise.

A recent one that chimed with me was posted on X on the 29th of August 2023 and it said;
‘Everybody has time to train. If you think you don’t, do me a favor [sic]: open up your phone and look at how much time you spent on social media yesterday. That’s a choice’.

How humbling is that? Arnold never once skipped workouts or made excuses, even when his schedule changed dramatically from that of a professional athlete to that of movie star, a governor, or CEO of various businesses.

Sometimes though, working out can be daunting. Especially if you never have, or if you genuinely are short on blocks of time right now while something is diverting your attention away from a whole gym session.

What is the solution then?

Movement Snacks

A whole meal, that is a whole workout, can be difficult to consume occasionally because of time or other commitments. So why not introduce a different approach to exercise that you can start right now, while you’re reading this blog?

A few seconds of a stretch here and there, or a little focused movement up and about that incorporates movements that your body isn’t doing during the course of your normal working day, will stand you in good stead come the day you’re able to commit to a full workout again.

It is also a good place to start if you’re a complete beginner to exercise, or you are returning after a long hiatus.
