Three Weird Body Facts That Blew Our Minds This MonthThe human body is weird, wonderful, and full of surprises. Every week at Astral Fitness, we’re reminded how connected and clever your body really is.

Here are 3 body facts that recently made us go “wait, really?” — and how they might help you feel better:

1. Your feet affect your jaw

Yep — tension in the soles of your feet can travel up your posterior chain and even impact jaw tightness. It’s all connected through fascia. This is one reason Chloe loves working with feet and posture when clients come in with neck or head tension, and at least having that conversation about what you can do if you really don’t want your feet being touched.

2. Hydrated fascia glides better

Fascia (your body’s connective tissue web) needs hydration — not just water, but movement that “wrings out” and refreshes it. That’s why gentle mobility plus massage works so well together. If you’re not sure about what to do to improve mobility, we are happy to send you exercise plans to aid you.

3. Your glutes might be switched off*… even if you squat.

Jen had a client this week with tight hip flexors and surprising glute tension. Once released, their movement felt instantly stronger. You can’t strengthen what you can’t ‘activate’.

*Glutes can never truly switch off, don’t come at us if you know that too, but we needed to grab your attention! This has become a bit of a buzzword of late, something for the Instagram influencer crowd to say to draw in their audience. If your glutes truly switched off… you’d fall over – if you were even able to stand up in the first place! They can, however, be working inefficiently. Come and find out with us what is going on.

Our bodies are smarter than we give them credit for — and sometimes they just need a little nudge in the right direction.
