Do you sit for long periods of time? Are you a desk worker? Or drive for your job? Professions which require you to sit for long periods of time can result in very particular types of muscular issues.

Jen and I specialise in using the hands-on art of Sports Massage to solve your desk working related acute and chronic aches and pains in your neck, shoulders, back, legs and hips. We often help solve issues with other muscles for other reasons too.

Regular Movement

Regular movement is vital to having a healthy day at your desk and behind your wheel. This could mean getting up and moving to get a drink once an hour, or simply standing and making more of your stretching time each day. Stopping regularly at service stations and just taking a moment more than needed to introduce extra movement. If you work alone this is easy enough, and if you’re in an office you might get some stares! Start the trend of regular stretching, your colleagues will thank you for it.

Ever heard of the 20/20/20 rule for eye health while using computers? Well, it can be applied to movement too. The 20/20/20 rule suggests that you should take a break of at least 20 seconds every 20 minutes and look at least 20 feet away. Why not move your whole body for 20 seconds at the same time. Focus your eyes into the distance and have a shoulder stretch. Or any stretch and movement that makes you feel good. I like to call these moments of stretching or mini exercises a name, and that name is movement snacks. It can take a long time to take in a whole meal, that is, a whole workout. So rather than not eating all day, or moving, then have a snack! You can’t replace regular workouts with just snacking, but it can be a good way to carry you through those days that it just is impossible to fit something more in.

Need help feeling good in a movement? Experiencing unusual discomfort or reduced range of movement at a joint? Having regular headaches? Get booked in and feel your best self sooner rather than later.
