Variation of Movement Hello and welcome to the second October blog, All about Variation of Movement.

Variety in your movements is absolutely key to having a healthy and active body for right now, and for the rest of your life.

Last week I left you pondering about the amount of different types of movement you usually do during your working week, and how to go about preventing a lessening of movement in your joints, and how to increase variety of movement into your life.

Variation of Movement When do you get active?

First things first, do you only get active at the weekend? Or maybe once or twice during the week?

That has to stop!

Are you surprised? I am always harping on about moving and being active, and now I have told you to stop. Read on…

Even if you have a sedentary desk job, only being active a few times a week will get you nowhere. You need to be active EVERY DAY.

How Active?

There it is. I wasn’t really telling you to stop being active, but in fact telling you to be more active. That is the magic first step to achieving a great and healthy range of movement in your joints. Unless, as I mentioned last week, you only move in the way that you usually move all day every day.

I get it. It sounds like a lot. But, when you start incorporating small amounts of movement into each and every day, you will love the effects so much that you will never want to stop.

Introduce or continue your weekend exercise and activities, as well as your working week activities. But now you are going to add to them gradually, by introducing targeted movements to increase movement at your shoulders, and open your hips, rotate your spine, expand your ribs, and in turn, loosen your tired, painful, tight, and stressed muscles.

Check back next week to find out how that could look for you, what sort of exercises you could start with and how often you should be doing them.

In the meantime, if you would like some hands on help to increase your joints capability of movement, get yourself booked in for a Sports Massage at www.astralfitness.co.uk and if you are feeling a little more adventurous, why not enquire about some Personal Training sessions to get you started in being more active.
